The United States allows citizens of certain countries to travel without a traditional visa. Check which option applies to you.

Visa exemption

Some travelers do not need a visa or an ESTA to enter the United States:

  • Citizens of the freely associated states: Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau.
  • Nationals of neighboring jurisdictions such as Canada and Bermuda, for short stays.
Visa Waiver Program (ESTA)

Citizens of the countries in the Visa Waiver Program can travel to the USA for tourism or business with an approved ESTA:

  • Must be requested before arrival in the United States.
  • Valid for 2 years with multiple entries, up to 90 days per visit.
  • Only a valid passport is required.
  • Typically approved within 24–48 hours.
B-2 visa (tourism / business)

The most common non-immigrant visa for temporary visitors to the USA:

  • For travelers who are not eligible for the Visa Waiver Program.
  • Issued as B-1 (business), B-2 (tourism) or a combined B-1/B-2 visa.
  • Requires an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
